| The problem is that you do not know how to study. . Be sure to highlight important stuff when you read your books. Be sure to take notes and you review them. Most importantly be sure you do your homework. For courses like chemistry and Calc be sure you do all the problems. If you feel you need more practice then do some more. All college books have an end of chapter section with questions and exercises. If you want to get A's you need to be able to do them all. Not just the easy ones but also the hard ones. . . My formula in college was for every hour of instruction dedicate four to prepare your self and do homework. . . When you review and do exercises you re-enforce what you learn and it will be harder for you to forget. Before the tests be sure you review so your memory is refreshed. Trust me, you will not make it if you think you will pass with minimal effort. . . I suggest you research good study habits and create a routine and stick with it. . . Good luck. . **** Additional comments****. . Before you start believing that you have some type of learning disability. You should consider a other possible explanations such as test anxiety. There are a ton of resources on the web that explain it and provide strategies on how to overcome it.. . In addition, most colleges or universities have programs designed to help students with issues like the one you are expressing. You should consider talking to a counselor. Schools are in the business to teach and they don't want students to fail so they tend to provide a lot of resources to help students overcome learning problems.. . One thing you can do is try to determined your learning style. (learn by watching, learn by doing, learn by listening etc...) The way schools teach is usually geared to favor a specific learning style. People are different and unique and everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way. I suggest you learn what best works for you and use it to your advantage.. . Finally, if you really think you have a learning disability there is probably a way to get tested to know for sure. Did you experience the same situation back in high school? or earlier? I don't believe that learning disabilities just show up in adult hood. Or it could be that you had it all along and never knew it. I'm not an expert so I can't advise you on that. . . Lastly, people tend become what they think of themselves. If you think you will forget something you will.. . Hope this helps.
